I am grateful to those of you who took the time and made the effort to respond to my problem and let me know that I can get through.
I have been in Salzburg--music and eating--and have just arrived in Venice. I'm a little tired, but do have a lot to transmit about food and wine in Austria today. I hope that by tomorrow I can begin to catch up.
Suffice to say for the present that Austrian wines have improved radically and much of the food is new and sensational. I was a little frightened about going to Obauer as I had written about it enthusiastically several years ago. Would it still live up to expectations--YES. There were many other good places. Lists and comments will follow.
